A chain pipe vice is a tool that uses a high-tensile steel chain and vise jaws to securely hold large-diameter pipes and irregularly shaped objects for cutting, threading, or other plumbing tasks. The chain loops over the pipe and is tightened by a crank handle, which applies pressure between the chain and the serrated jaws. This design provides a large, secure clamping surface and allows for a wider range of pipe sizes and greater clamping tension than traditional vices, making it ideal for heavy-duty work.  
Key Components:

• Jaws: Serrated, V-shaped jaws that grip the pipe along with the chain. 
• Chain: A high-tensile steel chain that wraps around the pipe to provide a secure hold. 
• Crank Handle: Used to tighten the chain around the pipe, creating the clamping pressure. 
• Pipe Rest: A support for the length of the pipe, preventing unwanted bending. 
• Frame: The main structure of the vice, which can be bench-mounted or a portable tripod design. 

How to Use a Chain Pipe Vice:

1. Position the Pipe: Place the pipe on the vise, resting the working end near the jaws and the rest of the pipe on the pipe rest. 
2. Wrap the Chain: Loop the high-tensile steel chain around the pipe between the jaws. 
3. Tighten the Chain: Use the crank handle to tighten the chain, pulling the jaws together for a secure grip. 
4. Proceed with Work: The secure grip allows you to safely perform tasks like cutting or threading the pipe.
